Meet Jenny

Jenny Gonzalez has been part of Long Beach Transit (LBT) for three years, serving as a Talent Acquisition Specialist. In her role, Jenny plays an essential part in shaping the agency’s workforce by collaborating with managers to understand hiring needs and guiding candidates through phone screenings and interviews. 

“I love getting to connect with people, I’m a huge people person,” Jenny shared. Her connection to transit began in high school when she often rode the bus to hang out with friends and go to the mall. That personal experience as a customer sparked her interest years later when she saw a job posting at LBT. “I already knew transit from being a customer, but I had never seen what happened behind the scenes. The idea of recruiting for this agency was exciting.” 

Jenny says her favorite part of the job is supporting not only current employees but also welcoming new team members to the organization. “It has been so fulfilling to help people achieve their career goals,” she said. “It’s great knowing that I’m not only hiring new employees but also seeing firsthand how they contribute to the company and to LBT’s overall goal of connecting communities.” 

Jenny’s advice for anyone new to public transit is to plan their trip ahead. “When I was in high school, I took the bus for the first time without planning and ended up getting lost. From that day on, I made sure to plan my trips, so I knew exactly where I was going,” she shared. 

Outside of work, Jenny stays busy attending her two sons’ football games or watching football with her family, and she also enjoys catching the bus to Dodger Stadium.
