Meet Marcel

Marcel Carter is a longtime Long Beach Transit (LBT) customer who enjoys riding LBT to get around the city. This past week, we met up with Marcel as he rode Route 151 to Colorado Lagoon with his friends from the LGBTQ Center Long Beach Older Adults Services Program. The program features weekly social activities, workshops and presentations for older adults in an inclusive and supportive environment. Before getting onboard, the group enjoyed an LBT presentation where they learned about our programs and got their bus-riding questions answered.  

“I am going to take the bus to the lagoon more often. The trip was comfortable and safe, and it was easy from start to finish,” Marcel said. “Whenever I ride with LBT, it gets me to and from where I need to go right on time, and I’m glad some of my friends from our group got to see how easy it is to ride with LBT.” 

As a Long Beach resident who loves to explore, Marcel relies on LBT to stay connected. “I’ve been riding with LBT since 2018 to hang out with friends and family, go to appointments, and visit local shops and restaurants,” Marcel said. “My favorite route would have to be the Passport. I love taking it to Shoreline Village on the weekends.” 

In his free time, Marcel loves to bake. A retired top-class baker who studied at Le Cordon Bleu, he specializes in cookies, cakes, pies and his favorite treat, Napoleon pastries.
