Meet Simreen

Simreen Punia is an IT Project Coordinator in the Information Technology (IT) Department at Long Beach Transit (LBT), where she joined the team six months ago. Welcome, Simreen! The IT Department supports the delivery, maintenance and planning of information technology solutions across the agency.  

In her role, Simreen helps track project progress by managing timelines and tasks, maintains project documentation, and coordinates communications to keep the team informed and connected. Simreen also supports continuous improvement efforts by identifying gaps and helping develop more efficient and consistent processes. Of all her responsibilities, her favorite part is seeing a project evolve from an initial idea into a completed solution. 

“In my role and throughout my career in IT, my favorite part has always been seeing a project idea become a completed solution,” Simreen said. “Being part of that journey by coordinating the smaller pieces and helping create something that improves the company’s operations is incredibly rewarding.” 

Before joining LBT, Simreen had never used public transit. Since starting at LBT, she has had the opportunity to experience the system firsthand and has gained a new appreciation for the service. 

“Since I started at LBT, I’ve had the opportunity to ride the bus for the first time,” Simreen said. “As a beginner, I’ve learned a few tips that make riding the bus much easier. Getting to the bus stop about five minutes early and planning your trip ahead of time can make the experience far less intimidating. And if you ever have questions, don’t be afraid to ask the bus operator for help.”  

Outside of work, Simreen stays active by going to the gym, playing badminton, and keeping up with the latest technology innovations.
